The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs. Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT. Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace. Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
